Video Editor

The Video Editor is a timeline editor in your browser. It is the last step before you publish: trim a scene, change a caption, add a title or an image, or cut your own footage.

It works with both Brand Flow adverts and interactive training videos.

Open a video in the editor

There are two ways in:

• From the canvas. When at least one scene has rendered, select Edit video in the canvas top bar. Every rendered scene is placed on the timeline in order, each with its script as an editable caption.
• From the menu. Select Video Editor in the left menu. Use the picker at the top to open one of your Adverts or Interactive Training videos, or choose Blank timeline — bring your own footage.

Select Dashboard at the top left to leave the editor.

Edit your video

1. Arrange the scenes

   The Scenes panel lists the scenes of your video. Select Add scene to add one.

2. Add media

   Use the side panels to add Videos, Images, Text and Audio. Select Upload media to bring in your own video or image files. You can drag and drop a file too.

3. Adjust a layer

   Select a layer on the canvas to change it. You can apply filters, adjust brightness, contrast and colour, set keyframe easing, and align it to the frame.

4. Write the narration (optional)

   Select Script at the top to write who speaks, what they say and where the pauses go.

5. Ask for help (optional)

   Select Assistant to ask questions about your cut.

6. Download

   Select Download, check the download settings, and save your video. The finished cut is also saved to Projects.

Use a rendered clip from elsewhere

• On a motion template, select Open in video editor to put the rendered clip on the timeline.
• In the Stock Library, choose Use on a stock video to open it in the editor.

Join finished videos into one film

To join several finished renders, such as the parts of a longer explainer or a showreel, open the canvas’s Build advert menu and choose Edit this video. This opens Assemble.

1. Pick two or more finished videos. They play in the order you add them. Move them up or down to change the order.
2. Trim each clip if you need to, by setting its in and out points, or choose Use the whole clip.
3. Choose a transition between clips, a resolution (720p or 1080p) and a music bed, or No music.
4. Select Join (the button shows how many clips, for example Join 3 clips) to make the film. The app tells you the credit cost first. If the join fails, your credits are refunded.

Note

Editing in the Video Editor uses the scenes you already rendered, so trimming and re-captioning does not re-render anything.

Tips

• Render the advert first. The editor only shows scenes that have been rendered, and tells you if some are not ready yet.
• Trim a weak shot here rather than rendering it again. It is quicker and it does not use generation credits.
• Captions come from each scene’s script. Fix a wording mistake in the editor instead of re-rendering.
